Albright Middle School

Teacher Appreciation Week runs from Monday May 2 through Friday May 5, 2016.  Please join us in thanking our teaching staff for their hard work with our District 48 students!

As with all school districts in Illinois, Salt Creek School District 48 will be engaged in the annual state mandated achievement testing program (PARCC-Partnership for the Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) in April and May, 2016.  All students in grades 3-8 will take these tests in the areas of English/Language Arts and Mathematics. Our "window" for these assessments is April 4 - May 13, 2016, so SMS and AMS have their own specific schedules for the assessments that they will make families aware of.  Students at SCS do not take these assessments. The testing format has changed from two testing periods in 2015 to just one in 2016, and all testing is done online.  We receive the results of our assessments as part of the School Report Card that comes out in the fall. If you have questions about the PARCC, please contact the SMS, AMS or District Office.

District #48 Registration Packets for the 2016-2017 school year were mailed out Friday, March 18, 2016.  Please watch for this paperwork to arrive.  All forms must be filled out in their entirety (front and back) and fees must be paid by April 29th in order to complete the registration process.

On Monday, 2/1 6th Grade students will be given their new Chromebooks. This is a pilot program, and we are excited to see the impact this has. Students learned of this last week with a Chromebook Kick-off event. If you are a parent of a 6th Grader, please get the Google Apps permission slip signed. All Albright students now have access to Google Apps as well.

Your son/daughter will complete Semester 1 on January 15th. The only classes impacted by this are Specials (music, art, tech, band, orchestra, Spanish). Starting Tuesday 1/19, your son/daughter's schedule will change slightly as they start a new Special's schedule, but the periods will stay the same. The grades for Semester 1 will be sent home soon after, in a separate report card.
