Viking Time Rotations Begin 9/9
Viking Time Rotations Begin 9/9

I am very excited to announce that we officially started our Viking Time Interventions & Extensions rotations today, 9/9/19. We shared this opportunity with you at Curriculum Night, but understand that not everyone could make it. Viking Time is a 37 minute instructional block during the day. During this time, students receive a hand-prescribed learning experience that best meets their needs. Students are no longer pulled out of core instruction to receive intervention services, such as Reading Support and ELL. Instead, they receive this support during Viking Time. This offers better fluency for their learning and allows teachers to cover more content during their day. We have also added a Math Specialist, to expand our program and support our students in Math during Viking Time.

For students currently not receiving interventions, we are able to provide a boost of skills for which they can benefit from. For example, we have one session called Organization & Executive Functioning and another called Math Encore. We also have extension opportunities for our highest learners to provide challenging educational experiences for them. We really want students to get what they need, while experiencing unique and creative lessons.

Our students have 2 classes on an alternate day schedule for 6 weeks. This allows us to be creative in their scheduling. After the first 6 week rotation, our teacher teams will work together to adjust groups and offer new opportunities for them.

We are so excited to share this with you and please let us know if you have any questions about your student's Viking Time experience.

Sincerely,

Gerrie Aulisa
