During the first week of school our dismissal process takes a little extra time. We are teaching the students where to go and how to be safe. We want to make sure our students know where they are going so that they can all get where they need to go safely. Thank you for your understanding with these delays. We are getting faster each day.
Welcome back to all of our students, staff and families for the 2016/17 school year in Salt Creek School District 48! We are excited to get this school year going, and are doing everything we can to help everyone get off to a good start. Please contact any one of our schools or the District Office if we can be of any assistance or provide any information! Thank you.
We are excited to share some news with you about our teachers. Ms. Katie Sementa was married over the summer and is now Mrs. Clancy. She is still teaching 1st Grade at Salt Creek. Ms. Jessica TerBush, our preschool assistant, will soon be Mrs. Lindeen. She is getting married in early September.
Our new preschool teacher is Mrs. Ashley Kusinski. She was also married this summer, and has been very busy getting ready for the year. She cannot wait to meet all of her new students and families.
Swartz has added a 2nd Grade teacher, due to the large enrollment this year. Her name is Mrs. Kim Ferraro and we are so glad to have her on our team. She comes to us with much local experience as she previously taught in, and currently lives in, Elmhurst.
Salt Creek also welcomes Sarah Keysor as our new Assistant Principal. Ms. Keysor has been working this summer getting to know our staff, students, and families. She has over 10 years of elementary teaching and administration experience and even taught with one of our parents. She truly is a great addition to our team and we cannot wait for you to meet her.

We set a goal for students to read 180,000 pages in 180 days and they have surpassed that goal and haven't stopped! I'm beaming with pride!
District #48 Registration Packets for the 2016-2017 school year were mailed out Friday, March 18, 2016. Please watch for this paperwork to arrive. All forms must be filled out in their entirety (front and back) and fees must be paid by April 29th in order to complete the registration process.
Students have been doing an incredible job reading and bringing their reading cards to the office. I am so proud of them! I can't wait to see how many pages they will read after our all school Read In on March 16th!
