Our FTC (Families, Teachers, Children) organization is hosting the annual Enchanted Evening Dance on Friday evening February 5, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 pm at Albright Middle School in the large gymnasium.

Today (February 1, 2016) all sixth grade students at Albright Middle School in Salt Creek School District 48 will begin their daily period-by-period use of our new Chromebook computers in a 1:1 computing pilot. The students will carry these computers from class to class throughout the day, and use them with various aspects of the curriculum in all of their classes. We are excited about this pilot, and are one of a number of DuPage district who are using 1:1 computing to enhance teaching and learning.
This pilot comes after a year long study by our Technology Committee, and the trial of various Chromebook options by members of that committee. We will be assessing this pilot throughout the Spring, and will consider expanding it to other grades in the future.

On Saturday January 30, 2016 from 8:00 am to noon at Albright Middle School, all Salt Creek School District 48 students K-8 are invited to participate in an exciting first of its kind, and free, leadership training academy! Based on our tagline "Learning to Lead," we believe that leadership is a very important teachable and learnable skill that our students will need to be successful in their lives. That morning student will participate in age-alike small groups with trained facilitators that will work on fun and engaging activities designed to promote leadership in students. It is our belief that leadership takes many forms- not just the captain of a team or the lead role in a drama production- but is exercised in our day to day lives by the choices we make. These exercises will help students develop a sense of leadership for themselves that we think will promote confidence and the desire to "step forward when needed." Please have your student(s) join us that day if at all possible! Registration materials have been sent home from school, but if you missed that, please contact the District Office or your child's school for information. Participants will receive a free t-shirt commemorating the event.

The Salt Creek School District 48 Board of Education will be meeting on Saturday January 9, 2016 from 9:00 - 12:00 to continue to work on a Strategic Goal Setting/Planning process that was begun in the fall. The meeting will be held in the 2nd Floor District Conference Room at Albright Middle School, 1110 S. Villa Ave., Villa Park, IL.
