Salt Creek Primary's first graders had a fun and creative time in the library today! 📚✨

Our district librarian, Mrs. Duewel, led a read-aloud of The Book with No Pictures by B.J. Novak. Inspired by the story, students became authors themselves and created their very own book with no pictures!

What a wonderful way to spark imagination, creativity, and a love for reading and writing! ❤️

All-School Halloween Parade - 2:05 PM

Families are welcome to join us for our All-School Halloween Parade at 2:05 PM. We ask that everyone please line up behind the cones on the blacktop to watch our students parade around in their costumes. This will help us keep a clear and safe path for our students as they walk through the parade. We are looking forward to seeing all of the creative costumes and sharing another fun Salt Creek tradition with our families.

This week, our PBIS families came together for our October gathering, Friendship Fix-Up! Students worked together to talk through friendship scenarios and choose the best solution from their “toolbox of solutions.” The activity sparked wonderful conversations about problem-solving, working together, and being a good friend. Students really enjoyed sharing their ideas and learning from one another!

Our kindergarten students had a FANTASTIC time on their field trip to Lincoln Park Zoo today! 🚌🐾 🦁🐒🦒🐧🐻 Students had the opportunity to learn about different animals, their habitats, and the unique ways they survive in the wild! From observing amazing animals up close to exploring the zoo with their friends, it was a day filled with excitement, curiosity, and lots of smiles! What a WILD and wonderful day of learning! 🐯💙

🍕📚 Today Salt Creek Students gathered to kick off our reading incentive “Slice Into a Good Book!” Students will complete fun reading activities at home and color ONE pizza slice per day on their reading charts. Complete both charts by November 18 to earn a FREE Lil Pizza from Aurelios, Oakbrook Terrace!

Tomorrow, 10/22, at Salt Creek Primary we will be helping to cheer on our Chicago Bears. Please dress in you favorite Bears gear, if you don't have any, blue and/or orange is great too!

First grade has been learning all about our sun, moon, and stars. Check us out tracking the sun and learning about UV rays with mystery beads!

Kindergarten has been learning all about structures and tried to build their own beanstalks in STEM!

Today was our first Salt Creek Gathering of the year! Students met with their Salt Creek families and worked together to create a special family tree. 🍃 Each leaf was colored based on students’ answers to fun questions about themselves—what school they attend, how many people live in their house, and whether they have pets! It was such a fun way to learn about one another and see all the things that make each of us unique. Different leaves, different stories, one Salt Creek family! 🌳💙 We can’t wait to keep growing together all year long! 🌱✨

Students have had so much fun feeding the Monster at Salt Creek! All of the candy collected will be used for our Fall Fest on Wednesday, October 14th! 🎃🍫🍭 A HUGE thank you to all of the families who have already donated candy—we appreciate your support! ❤️ We can’t wait to keep feeding our Monster and watch our candy collection grow! If you’d still like to donate, send a bag of candy to school with your child. Our Monster will happily gobble it up! 👻🍬 Thank you for helping make Fall Fest so much fun for our Salt Creek students and families! 🎃

🧪🔬 Today our Kindergarten students became scientists! 🐾🦊 We explored different animals and learned about the amazing ways they defend and protect themselves! Our little scientists had so much fun pretending to be different animals and practicing their unique movements and defenses.
