Hello First Grade Families. Next week in STEM, students will be building their "music makers that they designed this past week during our LIVE class. Students may use any materials they have on hand, but some possible ideas include: paper, pots, pans, kitchen utensils, string, cardboard boxes, tape, shoe boxes, cups, tp rolls, etc. Looking forward to seeing the inventions come to life! Have a great weekend!

Good afternoon First Grade Families,
Next week in STEM, we will begin our Final Challenge on Sound. Students will learn about the engineering design process and then use it to try to draw out a design for a musical instrument using only household materials. For this part of the challenge students will need: paper and a writing utensil. Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Afternoon Kindergarten Families! Next week in STEM, we will continue working on structure and function. For the challenge, students will need paper, tape, and 5 small objects. Students will try to build something that has the function of holding the objects! Have a wonderful weekend!

Save the Date! Salt Creek Primary and Stella May Swartz's Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on November 11th and November 12th. Be on the look out for an email from your child's teacher for a conference sign up. See the flyer for more details.

Some students were asking for extra Spooky STEM Challenges this week, so I've compiled a list of resources to try out at home if you're looking to add a little Science to the Season! Enjoy!

Happy Friday 1st Grade Families! For next week's LIVE STEM Class (Monday, October 26th), we will continue our exploration of sound by "seeing" it in action. To help students remember that vibrations are what causes sound, we will be using the following materials: uncooked rice, bowl, saran or plastic wrap, pan/pot/baking sheet, and a spoon. Please print or recreate the data sheet provided in our Google Classroom. Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Morning Kindergarten,
In next week's LIVE STEM Class (Monday, October 26th - KF & KC) or (Tuesday, October 27th - KO), we will discuss how some things might have the same structure, but different functions. Other things may have the same function, but different structures. For this challenge, students will need the following materials: 10 pipe cleaners (these will be sent home with your child today or are available for pick-up for Mrs. O's E-learning students).
